Frequently Asked Questions

What is threading?

Threading is the original hair removal technique. It has been practiced for centuries – approximately 6,000 years ago with its origins in South Asia and the Middle East.

A piece of thread is twisted and then rolled along the surface of the skin, entwining unwanted hairs and removing them from the follicle. It is more precise and lasts longer than waxing. It is also more gentle on the skin.

Threading vs. Waxing

Threading allows for an extremely precise eyebrow shaping compared to waxing. It does not involve any harsh chemicals or hot waxes which can cause irritation and even breakouts. Additionally, threading often lasts longer than waxing as each and every hair is pulled at the root. It takes more time than waxing, but the result is always worth it.

How long does threading take?

A threading session with The Brow Guru takes approximately 15-20 minutes. A little more time is taken in order to provide clients with the most attentive and personalized experience possible.

How often should I get threading done?

Typical growth cycles can range between 3-4 weeks.  Hair can be removed once it’s grown above the surface of the skin. Before  threading, it’s important to maintain some hair length however. Be sure to avoid tweezing between appointments to allow for a complete and clean shaping.

What does threading feel like?

Threading is most commonly described as the feeling of small pinches against the skin. It is comparable to tweezing, but taking several hairs at a time.  Note that over time, hair growth becomes slower and thinner – making it less painful. After a threading appointment, witch hazel, rose water, or aloe vera gel can be applied to help sooth the skin.
